
HYPERTENSION (High Blood Pressure)

Hypertension is when the pressure in your blood vessels is consistently higher than it should be. You goal blood pressure is determined depending on your age, your health status, and other factors. To make it even more confusing there is not agreement on blood pressure goals between the major medical associations that provide recommendations. At Florida Primary Care and Sports Medicine we will develop a blood pressure goal that is safe and appropriate for you.

Most of the time there are no symptoms letting you know that your blood pressure is out of normal range. With regular visits we can make sure that your blood pressure doesn't go from normal to abnormal without you knowing it. Don't put off seeing your doctor, there is a reason why hypertension is called the silent killer. You may go years or even decades without knowing that your blood pressure is high if you are not seeing your doctor regularly.

The first step in treating a person with high blood pressure should involve evaluating their eating habits and activity level.
We would like to help improve your hypertension without pharmaceuticals when possible. However, when your blood pressure cannot be controlled with diet and exercise then medications will be used to maintain the blood pressure in YOUR optimal range.
